July 7 Visitors

North American Cardinal

These were a few of the more interesting visitors to my feeder on July 7 2024. This cardinal has been to visit lots of times and he loves to pose at the feeder. A male cardinal is identified by his bright red plumage. Females feature a much more subtle coat.

Cardinals can live up to 15 years in the wild and while typically found in the warmer southern climates, cardinals have been moving North.

House Finch

There appear to be many house finches in the area and they visit the feeder often.

American Goldfinch (Male)

My feeder has become a favorite among the American Goldfinches. Goldfinches with the bright yellow plumage like this one are breeding males. Their female counterparts have a duller yellow underneath. He certainly is stunning.
